Booking the Perfect Family Holiday

Who saw this clip that went viral last summer? You know the one where dozens of eager holidaymakers were literally running with towels to ‘reserve’ their poolside sunbeds. It was horrendous but lets face it, these situations happen – especially during the peak summer months. However, this is my idea of holiday hell and not what I want from my summer getaway.

Most of us work all year and have one or two weeks to relax and enjoy some much needed sun, sand and family fun. So these special weeks need to be perfect or as near perfect as possible. The last thing I want to do is set an alarm to dash out and reserve a sunbed.

On that note, I’ve been thinking about the things I look for when booking a perfect family holiday. This year as my husband is celebrating his 40th birthday and my father is celebrating his 70th, we’re after that once in a lifetime, magical experience that we’ll always remember as the most special and perfect family holiday.

Yes, as you can tell, I’m feeling the pressure!

First of all I want a travel company that I trust, a company that I know will look after our needs and give us the best possible service. As I’ve already mentioned a holiday should not be stressful, it should be blissfully relaxing from start to finish. I don’t want to worry about high chairs or cot beds for Iris or entertainment for Lili and Poppy.

I also want a holiday that gives us plenty of opportunity for quality family time. We love visiting small towns and eating in local cafes and restaurants, after all that’s what being abroad is all about. So the perfect holiday would definitely need to be located near beautiful towns and child-friendly beaches.

Villa or Hotel?

With three young girls we’ve found that villa holidays work well, especially ones with a private pool and a beautiful view. A villa gives us the chance to be completely alone, with no fear of missing out on that last sunbed. It also means we can make as much noise as we like and splash around (in the pool) to our hearts content, knowing we’re not upsetting any other guests.

However, a good quality hotel offers us the added advantage of a kids club, where the girls can play and make new friends and special holiday memories. It also means that I don’t have to worry about any meals or shopping for food.

As you can see both options have their benefits but a hotel normally means a shared room, which isn’t ideal when you want to get your little ones to sleep at night. And a villa means you have no childcare back-up, and of course you have to deal with your own dirty dishes.

What if you could have the best of both worlds? Wouldn’t that be the perfect option? A beautiful villa with two or three bedrooms and a private pool within a resort, with maid service and a kids club. Could this be the dream answer? I think maybe, YES!!

I’ve just been reading about the Family options with Simpson Travel and this is something they offer! Stunning family villas on beautiful resorts that offer all the benefits of a hotel, with the space and freedom of a villa holiday. This is definitely an option I’d love to try, which is why I’m entering a completion for a chance to win an amazing Family holiday with Simpson Travel. This year they’re going to choose two lucky ambassadors to join their extended family and work closely with their in-house team.

Simpson Travel are renowned for their magical unspoilt destinations, exemplary service (from booking to airport check-in and friendly on-site help), luxury five star resorts and of course expert local knowledge.

Having read all the reviews on their website, I think they’d be the ideal choice for our extra special family holiday this year.

What’s on your list for a perfect family holiday? I’d love to know.

Two special birthdays in one year - how wonderful! We like villa holidays best, though if you can combine it with the luxury of a resort you get the best of both worlds which is brilliant!
