One industry that’s definitely ‘winning’ during these ‘unprecedented times’ has to be the TV streaming providers. I’m talking; Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney +, Now TV and Apple TV. After all, if you’re going to be locked in your house, some light entertainment is pretty essential… am I right?! All the above providers have definitely been essential in our house, let me tell you. So what have you been watching/ binging? Like everyone else (I know) we’ve watched Tiger King (Netflix), which I found disturbing and worrying on so many levels – it probably warrants its own post. However, I think that it has been discussed enough already. Another lockdown colossal hit has been BBC THREE’s Normal People. Have you seen it yet? If not, what are you waiting for? It’s a stunning piece of television that I literally devoured in two nights. I was so obsessed that I had to… View Post

A Bedroom Design for Girls that’s not too girly https://www.runninginlavender.com/a-bedroom-design-not-too-girly/ Tue, 10 Mar 2020 15:12:25 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9449 A Bedroom Design for Girls that's not too girly

Our middle daughter, has a very strong mind when it comes to fashion and interiors, which I realise (as she’s only 7) sounds ridiculous! She loves watching interior design and home shows with me, and has always been very opinionated about what she will and will not wear. For example, I don’t think I’ve seen her wear a ‘disney princess’ costume since she was three! So when it came to her bedroom, I knew she’d want to have her say in its design and theme. She instantly said that she didn’t want anything too ‘girly’ or pink. It had to be ‘cool’ and her preferred colours were black and white. Okay, I thought… this will be interesting! I started researching ‘girls bedroom ideas’ and ‘black and white bedroom ideas’ on Instagram and Pinterest and quickly found some great examples, which got the thumbs up. The rooms we liked the most… View Post

These in-between seasons can be tricky to dress for. One minute you feel warm, the next it’s chilly, and when you think you’ve got everything sorted, you need to rethink it all again. With spring just around the corner and the weather warming up, it’s time to assess what’s in your wardrobe and update where necessary. If you want to rethink your style, here are some top tips and tricks… Layer up You may already have a few jumpers and cardigans in your wardrobe and it’s likely you’ve been living in them all winter, but before you store them away in the back of the wardrobe (until autumn), keep hold of your favourites! Instead of wearing them with trousers or jeans, try teaming them with a floaty skirt and trainers for the perfect way to layer up when the weather starts warming a little. Go long Long-sleeve dresses look great… View Post

Positive Goals to Start 2020 https://www.runninginlavender.com/positive-goals-to-start-2020/ Wed, 08 Jan 2020 13:17:44 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9431 Positive Goals to Start 2020

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely and relaxing Christmas break. We definitely did! Other than the odd walk, we hardly left the house (it was our first Christmas at home, ever, so we made the most of it). Being at home, chilling out with my family gave me some time to think about what I want to achieve in 2020 and indeed the next (new) decade. As I’ve mentioned on here many times (probably ever year at this time), I never do traditional resolutions. In all honesty, I don’t believe in forcing a new regime on myself at possibly the darkest time of year. However, I have written a list of goals I have for this new year which I thought I’d shared with you, in the hope that it may encourages you to do the same. So here are my thoughts on what I’d like… View Post

MINT AND HONEY GLAZED ROAST LAMB #ad https://www.runninginlavender.com/mint-and-honey-glazed-roast-lamb-ad/ https://www.runninginlavender.com/mint-and-honey-glazed-roast-lamb-ad/#comments Sat, 21 Dec 2019 11:27:05 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9428 MINT AND HONEY GLAZED ROAST LAMB #ad

The sweet smell of this mint and honey glazed roast lamb slowly cooking in the oven reminds me of Sunday mornings as a child in Wales. This recipe was definitely a favourite in our house growing up – and is one I still love making for my own family now. I’m sharing it as part of the Family Favourite campaign, sponsored by Welsh Lamb. What’s great about lamb is that it’s naturally rich in protein, low in salt and provides seven essential vitamins and minerals that supports good health and wellbeing. These are: niacin (vitamin B3), vitamins B6 and B12, zinc, potassium, phosphorus and pantothenic acid. This roast lamb recipe could not be quicker or easier to prepare; all you need is three simple ingredients and lots of time, as this lamb is cooked low and slow, until it literally falls off the bone. I usually make this on the… View Post

Watch this on NOW TV now! https://www.runninginlavender.com/watch-this-on-now-tv-now/ Tue, 26 Nov 2019 15:10:55 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9415 Watch this on NOW TV now!

We’ve had NOW TV for years now. It all started as a way for us to watch Game of Thrones, without having to get Sky or have a dish stuck onto the side of the house. The plan was to pay the monthly Entertainment subscription for three months, and then finish. Five and a half years later and you’ve guessed it, we’re still subscribed to the service – and that’s simply because the offering on the Entertainment package is so good!! How else would we have watched Succession this year? Unfortunately, it’s about to come off the service but if you get the chance to watch Succession (any other way) you should, it’s easily the best thing I’ve watched all year!! The last episode of season two was simply brilliant, it had a climax of epic proportions! Since Succession will soon be gone, I thought I’d make a list of… View Post

Florida Holiday Packing Tips https://www.runninginlavender.com/florida-holiday-packing-tips/ Thu, 17 Oct 2019 15:41:50 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9381 Florida Holiday Packing Tips

A Florida holiday is not like any other holiday, to be honest you’ll need a holiday to get over this full-on, non-stop journey of joyful exhaustion. I found packing (especially for myself) a lot more tricky than usual. Why, you ask? Well, usually I pack some pretty summer dresses, a pair of flip-flops and a dressier pair of sandals (for the evening) and a few swimsuits and I’m done. However, Florida in August calls for clothes for all seasons, as well as comfortable shoes for all the walking, and an easy to carry bag. These are my top tips for packing for a Florida holiday, I hope you find them useful if you’re planning your own Florida trip… Belt Bag I got this gorgeous belt bag from Village Leather and it was a complete lifesaver on park days. It’s big enough to carry all my essentials, such as; phone, cards,… View Post

What I’m loving lately… https://www.runninginlavender.com/what-im-loving-lately/ Thu, 10 Oct 2019 09:51:58 +0000 http://www.runninginlavender.com/?p=9351 What I'm loving lately...

There is so much I’m loving on TV and at the cinema at the moment. My list goes on and on. What have you been watching lately? One of my favourite things on NOW TV (and SKY) recently has been The Loudest Voice staring Russell Crowe as Roger Ailes, (the founder and chief of Fox News) and Sienna Miller playing his supporting wife. This mini-series has it all, power, greed, corruption, and some down right evil behaviour. Crowe delivers a fantastic performance, managing to capture the true nature of this menacing man, who ruled with an iron fist and managed to shape a nation to his advantage. This really is a must-see if you have access to NOW TV or SKY. Speaking of capturing the essence of a character, I’ve also recently been to the cinema to see Judy, staring Renee Zellweger. This is definitely a career high for Zellweger,… View Post
