Last Night’s Home Facial

I honestly think that the transition from summer to autumn is the most dramatic and brutal of all season changes. The others seem more kind and gradual, this one feels like it happens over night. As soon as the kids go back to school the temperature drops like a stone, the leaves turn that reddish brown colour and the night’s really pull in. This transition is also brutal on my skin and my emotions. I love summer and always feel a little low as it comes to an end – but I also appreciate that Autumn is a beautiful time of year and I couldn’t live in a country without proper seasons.

Anyway, enough waffling about the seasons. Last night I gave myself a little home facial to scrub away all that dead skin, brighten my complexion and add lots of moisture. It also gave me some relaxing ‘me-time’ to recharge the batteries once the kids were in bed and asleep.

Looking at my skin I knew it needed a little pick-me-up, as it was looking dull and dehydrated. Here are the products I reached for, for my little home facial treat…

STEP 1 : CLEANSING (Double Cleanse)
Dermalogica Precleanse

Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleansing

STEP 2 : EXFOLIATING

Origins Never A Dull Moment Face Polish

STEP 3 : MASK

Clarins SOS Hydration Mask

STEP 4 : TREATMENT

Time Bomb Youth Juice Secret Oi

I simply lay in my bed while the creamy mask did its thing with a gorgeous ‘Tranquillity’ Neom candle burning next to me on the bedside table.

This whole routine only took me about twenty minutes but it really helped to lift my spirits. I cleared my mind and felt comfortably cocooned and relaxed lying in my bed. These five products also left my skin feeling incredibly nourished and smooth, and the gorgeous smell of the Youth Juice Secret Oil lingered on my skin all night.

I must admit beauty products and gorgeous aromas make me very happy, so I knew that this treat to the skin and senses was exactly what I needed last night.

These sound ace for winter coming up. I really need to start taking care of my skin. it’s the one thing I never do. I hardly even take my makeup off. I just add to it until I shower and it comes off in the shower. EEEK how bad is that? I am the first to say I buy all the products and then use them for a week, forget what goes where and why and then give them away. I must get better at this. You need to teach me more. LOL #wrc

Jenny I’m shocked!! You’re lucky you have great skin. Right, I’m making it my mission to get you into skincare ; ) x

Like Jenny I am terrible with looking after my skin. Whenever I see posts like this I always feel guilty as I just use three basic products and never look for anything new. I really must take a leaf out of your book and care more for my skin! xx

Ooh what three do you use? Always nosey about beauty products. Sounds to me like you look after your skin if you use these everyday xx

I NEVER pamper myself like this. I try and look after my skin by wearing sun protection every day and I always take off my makeup every night (not that I wear much). Maybe I should make to do a little bit extra with some more luxurious products from time to time…

A little me time goes a long way and like you I always find my skin needs a bit of something as the weather starts to turn, the heating, the cold and lets not forget always feeling like I need to drink more water. That time bomb looks fab! x

Sounds great! I really need a routine as I am terrible at night – I just take off my make-up and go! These products look amazing 🙂 xx

These products look lovely Heledd! I’m a nightmare for not taking good care of my skin. The most I do is whip a bit a bit of micellar water round my face, or if I’m feeling really fancy, I reach for some Lidl face wash. I feel like I need you to take me under your wing … as well as potentially bank roll my skin care routine … what do you think? Keen? xxx
