Seeing Santa at Harrods! {My Captured Moment #102}

Seeing Santa at Harrods!

As you may know getting a reservation to see Santa at Harrods is like trying to get tickets to the hottest show in town. It’s near on impossible! However, it’s been something I’ve wanted to do with the girls for years. For me Harrods is THE PLACE to see Santa in this country, I’ve held it on a crystal pedestal for years, hoping and dreaming that one year we’d get to go.

Well, this year we finally got to go! Unfortunately, Lili missed out as the reservation we got was on a school day and I didn’t think her school would appreciate me taking her out of school to go to what is basically a big shop. Although, I think Harrods is a total education in itself, full of history and magic. Thankfully, Lili was very understanding and wasn’t too upset about missing out, especially as she was going for a playdate after school which was much more fun in her mind.

So on Monday morning with much excitement (and slight sadness not to have Lili with us) the two little ones and I met up with Bonnie and Miss M from MamasVIB (who was our fairy godmother and organised the whole thing) and headed off to Harrods. We travelled into London together on the ‘big train’ and got the bus round to Knightsbridge from Victoria, it was all very easy. This is important as I always get slightly stressed about taking a buggy on public transport.

Once we arrived at Harrods, we headed up to the magical grotto on forth floor. By this point excitement levels were through the roof! As soon as we went through the door into the grotto, we were transported to a magical winter wonderland. Everything was wonderfully designed and well thought out. There was no rush and we were able to take pictures the whole way through (although not while we were in with Santa himself). The whole experience lasted around an hour and I can honestly say that it surpassed my already high expectations.

Here is just a taste of the experience…

Share your Moments

Your ‘My Captured Moment’ can be a single picture or a series of shots, new (taken this week) or old, with or without words. The idea is to simply share a moment in time you’ve captured on your camera and make sure it doesn’t go unseen. This could include vintage shots of your own childhood and beyond or a simple picture you’ve recently taken and want to ‘show off’.

    We used to do this every year when we lived in Milton Keynes, it was brilliant and I have lots of great pictures of Ellie from that time. We took Evie in 2010 and she loved it too. They do the whole grotto thing so well and it is THE PLACE for us too. Lovely pictures of the girls Heledd, what a shame Lili missed it, the penguins are super cute too. Thank you for hosting, have a lovely day xx #MyCapturedMoment
