My Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Christmas Table

With just over two weeks to go before the big day, it’s safe to say I’m now well and truly in the festive spirit and am mentally getting ready for the big day. The trees (yes, plural) are up and the stockings are hung, the staircase has fir garlands and fairy lights twisting down the banister and I’ve got Christmas scented candles dotted around the house. You could say I’m in my ‘festive’ element! So how am I getting ready for the big day I hear you ask. Well my food order has been placed (with M&S and will be ready for collection on Sunday 23rd December) and I’ve already come up with my Christmas table setting.

My Dream Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Christmas Table Setting

First of all you need to know that I’ve been wanting this Sophie Conran for Portmeirion dinnerware set for years! It’s simple and chic with a modern feel that’s also classic and timeless. If I’m going to spend a decent amount of money on a good set of plates and bowls, I don’t want them to go out of style in a few years time. Anyway, after many years of lusting (and I mean LUSTING) I finally have the set, well not everything (yet) but I’ll continue to build on it for years to come – which I suppose will make Christmas and birthdays easier for my friends and family.

Here’s how our Christmas table will look…

I’ve gone for a simple, festive design that will showcase the beautiful design of the white Sophie Conran for Portmeirion dinnerware pieces. With a festive flourish of a Christmas garland, fairy lights and a large candle safely protected in a hurricane stand at the end, which I may or may not light on the day – depending on the amount of food we have on the table. I have three clumsy little girls and an even clumsier husband so safely has to come over style in these situations.

I love mixing metallic colours at Christmas time. Basically, I can never pick between gold and silver from one year to the next so I now just use both – after all it’s Christmas! And I think they look so beautiful and elegant together.

My Dream Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Christmas Table Setting

What I like most about this Sophie Conran for Portmeirion dinnerware set is that although it can be dressed up for special occasions like this, it’s also robust enough to be used every day. It’s dishwasher safe and can be placed in the microwave, a normal oven or even the freezer, which is pretty impressive.

The full Sophie Conran for Portmeirion range is massive and as I’ve already mentioned, I’ll be collecting more over the next few years but here’s what I’ve started with…

A Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Dinnerware 20 Piece Set – £136

This extensive set includes; four dinner plates, four salad plates, four small cereal bowls, four pasta bowls and four mugs. Making this boxset the perfect place to start your collection.

A Set of Four Sophie Conran for Portmeirion 7 Inch Noodle Bowls – £38

I decided to also order these bowls because I wanted bigger cereal bowls for hungrier mornings or larger puddings. Of course, they’re also perfect for noodle dishes too.

Six Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Balloon High Ball Glasses – £30 (per pack of two)

These glasses are simply gorgeous! I’ve been looking for a good size, chunky weight tall ‘high ball’ glasses for ages and these are perfect. Again, they look and feel high quality but are also ideal to use every day.

A Sophie Conran for Portmeirion White Large Statement Bowl – £45

This large statement bowl makes an elegant fruit bowl, a brilliant salad bowl or an ideal large serving dish – so I thought it would be perfect for my Christmas table.

Having just spent more time on the Portmeirion website, I’ve now got my eye on a few other pieces, which will promptly go onto my Christmas wish list – including; the cake stand, the wine glasses and the glass jugs to name a few.

These items are all available from the Portmeirion website.

Oh I love portmeirion. I once found 2 places at a car boot sale for 50p. I looked on the other side of the plate and my eyes widened but I desperately tried to play it cool 😉
The table looks so elegant and gorgeous. I think I will try and tone it down this year. Christmas is OTT at my house and I am slowly coming round to the less is more camp. Slowly.

Ooh I need to buy a Christmas candle. I do love the Sophie Conran pottery. We live right by the Portmeirion factory. Love the table layout.

Such a beautiful table setting! I’d love to make our Christmas table look all pretty like this but our dining table is quite small and there would be no space for all the food! We desperately need some new dinnerware as all of our current ones are chipped or have got smashed accidentally over the years. These ones look so elegant – you chose well!
