The Magic of Lapland UK

Where do I begin? I’d heard (and read) so much about this magical place in the heart of the Whitmoor Forest, near Ascot, but if I’m honest I wasn’t too sure what to expect from Lapland UK. Would it live up to the hype and the very high expectations I had in my head? Would this be the Christmas experience I’ve been searching for since Lili was born seven years ago?… Because believe me, we’ve had some seriously dodgy ones over the years and I was starting to get despondent.

I’ll break the suspense immediately and tell you that Lapland UK exceeded my expectations in every way! Magical is definitely the best way to describe this Elftastic winter wonderland, full of snow covered trees and old-world charm. There were little beautiful touches everywhere I looked, with the most fantastic attention to detail. Everything from the shows, characters, activities and food were all of the highest quality!

I’ll be the first to admit that this Christmas experience is not cheap, but what I will say is that you do get what you pay for. This is not just a visit to meet Santa, this is a fully immersive experience into the wonderful world of Father Christmas and his elves in their “home environment”.

So what do you get for your money? An experience that lasts approximately four hours and includes high quality gifts (the kids were given little gifts throughout the day) and fun activities including; iceskating, gingerbread decorating, toymaking and of course meeting the big man himself. There is also a fun elf show (telling the original story of Father Christmas and his wife), story time with Mother Christmas and a chance to meet real-life reindeers and huskies.

Everything at Lapland UK is done to the highest possible standard, which is what makes this whole experience so magical and worth every penny. At no point were we rushed along or asked not to take pictures, in fact we were encouraged to take as many as we wanted.

They did take some professional pictures while we were meeting Father Christmas, which we were then given as a gift before we left. I thought this was a lovely touch (as you usually have to pay for these little extras) and a perfect example of how Lapland UK do things differently.

Here are some tips for visiting Lapland UK

1. Book early, as the slots get booked up really quickly. I’d recommend checking the website in September.
2. I’d say the best time of day to visit Lapland UK is between 1pm and 2pm – so that you get the chance to experience the magical Elven Village in the daylight and all lit-up in the dark.
3. The food on offer at Lapland UK is really good, so there’s no need to eat before you get there.
4. Make sure you log-on to the website before your visit and fill-in all the questions about your child/ children to make this experience even more magical.
5. Wrap up warm but don’t worry if it rains because most of the site is undercover.

My girls were so giddy with excitement as we drove home from our visit to Lapland UK, they were completely convinced by the whole place. It really was the most amazing day, one we won’t forget for years to come.

We visited with our friends from MamasVIB and Junior, which made the day extra special.
