At this time of year and with this title, you could be fooled into to thinking that this is another Christmas post. A post where I tell you how much I love the run up to the festive season and how much I look forward to the ‘holidays’ but NO! I haven’t turned all American, I’m thinking or I should say dreaming of the perfect summer holiday.
It’s fair to say that I do spend a lot of my free time planning imaginary holidays and considering different options for our actual family getaways. I’ve always been obsessed with holidays, years ago my friends used to call me “Thomas Book It” (I should mention that my maiden name was Thomas) as I would research and organise all our holidays and weekends away. Looking back I realise that my ‘perfect holiday’ requirements have changed over the years, from party holidays to romantic getaways. These days the perfect holiday has to fulfil the needs and wants of my family, which is not easy as we all have different requests.
My Perfect Holiday
For me the perfect holiday would be luxurious, relaxing and utterly pampering. It would have beautiful sandy beaches with crystal clear waters and stunning scenery. I enjoy spa treatments, good quality food, delicious cocktails and soaking up that chilled-out atmosphere that only comes with being ‘away’.
My Husband’s Perfect Holiday
My James Bond ‘want-to-be’ husband needs to be on the go. He enjoys relaxing for a few hours but then needs to be challenged, he loves mountain biking, scuba diving or working out. For him the perfect holiday would offer all these facilities, as this is how he likes to unwind.
Lili’s Perfect Holiday (age 4)
Lili loves the water, she always has, even as a baby. So for her the perfect holiday would have lots of swimming pools and water slides. Like her dad, she likes being on the go and making new friends, so fun activities and games would keep her very happy.
Poppy’s Perfect Holiday (age 2)
Poppy is a wild, creative child, she enjoys painting and playing, singing and dancing. For her the perfect holiday would involve lots of messy play and music. I know she would love a baby disco and any family entertainment that involved singing and dancing.
So as you can see, it’s not easy to find a holiday that answers all our needs and requirements for the perfect holiday. However, if I’m being totally honest (and a little soppy) the most important thing is that we’re all together. These days, holidays are for making memories and capturing special moments. The girls are growing up so quickly and I want to enjoy this special time as much as possible. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures, for me this is the best way of capturing a moment and making it last a lifetime. Here are a selection of my favourite holiday snaps to date…
