When it comes to Christmas, we really go for it our house. I would literally have a Christmas tree in every room if I had my way. My husband gives me that disapproving shake of the head whenever I mention getting another tree but then he doesn’t stop me.
So this year I’ve gone for one more mini tabletop tree for the entrance hallway. We have this little bay window that’s been crying out for a Christmas tree for the past few years – nothing too big, just a little 4ft tree that can sit on top of the wooden box that’s there all year round. I found this perfect little tree for £45 at John Lewis and then set about picking a suitable colour scheme.
I was completely taken by the magical Winter Palace collection at John Lewis, it captures the glamour, beauty and elegance of Christmas perfectly. I loved the sparkling white swans and pretty diamante snowflakes that make up this beautiful, dazzling theme.
I chose a royal blue, silver and white colour scheme, highlighted with twinkling diamantes and accents of gold glitter. You can never have too much glitter at this time of year!
This little tree now welcomes everyone as they walk into the house and looks so beautiful nestled into the bay window, against the white shutters.
Top Tips for Decorating the Perfect Christmas Tree
Step 1
Find the ideal spot to position your tree and place it in a pot (or a tree skirt) to cover the stand.
Step 2
Separate all the branches and make sure the tree in standing up straight.
Step 3
Cover the tree in fairy lights, starting from the top and working your way round the tree in a downward direction. Make sure the lights are evenly spread apart.
Step 4
It’s now time for the fun part, the decorations! Start with your most extravagant, decretive ones, making sure that they’re evenly spread out over the tree. Then use the plainer baubles to fill the gaps and ensure your tree looks fully adorned.
Step 5
End with a few finishing touches, including; tinsel, ribbons and of course a little something for the top of the tree.
I’ve kept the Winter Palace theme going with a few extra bits from the luxurious Christmas collection at John Lewis. Including; these gorgeous handmade champagne flutes (£6), wine glasses (£6) and tumblers (£6). I love the extravagant look and feel of these elegant glasses, perfect for toasting the festive season.
Last but not least I picked up some beautiful wrapping paper and accessories to keep this gorgeous Winter Palace theme going under the tree. I must admit, I have a slight obsession with wrapping christmas presents and again I take it to the next level with lots of ribbons, baubles, bows and of course matching wrapping paper. All this makes me very happy!
