A Rainbow Unicorn Birthday Party for Iris

A Rainbow Unicorn Birthday Party

Last week my baby girl turned three, where that time has gone I can’t tell you but my smallest human is definitely growing up and growing up fast! No longer a baby, she literally wants to do everything herself; from getting dressed in the mornings to helping me make diner. She really is a little joy though, always happy and always eager to get involved with everything around her. So when it came to her birthday I thought it was about time she had her first birthday party! The other two had definitely had at least one by this age (that’s curse of the third child for you). I decided on a rainbow unicorn party theme, because well… every little girl loves a rainbow unicorn party! Including me!

We had a rainbow unicorn bouncy castle in the garden, lots of rainbow coloured balloons, rainbow tassels, a rainbow unicorn birthday banner saying “Iris is 3” and lots of tasty rainbow coloured party food for the kids (and adults) to enjoy. Thankfully the weather on the day was beautiful, which meant we could all relax outside, while the children made the most of running around the garden and bouncing on the bouncy castle.

To be honest a three year old’s party can be pretty stress free, they’re too young for most game (have yo ever tried paying pass the parcel with a two or three year old? Not so cute!) as long as you have good weather a garden or park party is perfect because all they want to do is run around. Oh and have a goody bag at the end, of course.

The only thing I went “off theme” with, was the birthday cake and that’s because WE ALL LOVE the M&S Connie the (chocolate) Caterpillar cake so much in our house. So when I saw that M&S did a larger, party sized versions on their website I knew it was the perfect cake – despite it not being on the rainbow unicorn theme. This huge version of the Connie the Caterpillar cake serves 40 (the normal sized one you buy in-store serves 10, to give you a comparison) and as predicted it was a massive hit, we literally had none left at the end of the party, which I always think is a good sign.

All the other food was also from the M&S Food Hall, you literally can’t go wrong with Marks and Spencer food for a special occasion like this, they take care of everything and you know everything will be delicious…

I was so super chuffed with the personalised Rainbow Unicorn banner, which I got from my lovely friend Lisa who has the most gorgeous Etsy shop called The Paper Party Company, selling all sorts of hand-made, personalised kids party and room decorations.

We had such a lovely time, everything went perfectly and most importantly Iris enjoyed her special day.
