A Quiet Saturday Afternoon

Today was a quiet Saturday afternoon for me after a very busy few days.

I’ve been feeling great for the past 19 weeks (other than the odd cold here and there) but today I’ve been feeling pretty rough. My husband has been down stairs with the girls (making scones and halloween cards) while I’ve been upstairs lying on the bed feeling a little nauseous and very tired! I never like sleeping in the day, as I always wake up feeling worse and then I can’t get to sleep at night, so I’ve had my laptop and spent some time watching vlogs and reading a few of my favourite blogs…

It’s probably no surprise that I’m feeling this way after the last few days, which have been hectic. I’ve definitely pushed my 20 week pregnant self a little too hard.

So what have I been up to?

On Thursday morning Poppy and I went to the launch of the My 1st Years‘ Christmas collection in London. I really love the story behind this brand - two guys who were set on a life working in ‘the city’, who then decided that making personalised baby shoes would be a better option. Five years later and the brand is going strong with over 500 different product lines. All the products are made of the highest quality and best design. I’ve already got a few bits lined up for Poppy’s birthday next week and I’m obsessed by the little personalised white bath robes, which I might have to get the girls for Christmas!

That evening, after picking Lili up from school we headed over to Chessington World of Adventures to experience their spooky Howl’o’ween offering. The park had been decorated throughout with spooky pumpkins, which gives the place a great seasonal atmosphere for the half-term break. They also have a great Trick or Treat Maze with ‘good’ and ‘not so good’ fairies and pixies. Nothing too scary though, so the little ones weren’t traumatised and they got some healthy sweets at the end, which of course made them very happy! As I’ve mentioned a few times, my two are obsessed with halloween so they were more than happy to have a chance to get dressed up and fully embrace the theme of the night.

If you live near and fancy a good family day out over the next week, I fully recommend you pop over to Chessington to experience their spooky Howl’o’ween for yourself.

Yesterday morning, we went to the big flagship Gap store on Oxford street to meet the lovely Mother’s Meeting gang. Gap were launching their cool new collaboration with Peanuts, which is just amazing. I can’t tell you how excited I’ve been about this collection, as I loved Snoopy and Charlie Brown so much as a child. This event was so cute!! Poppy got her nails done for the very first time (which made her very happy, as she always asks me to paint her nails and I always say no), we both enjoyed a milkshake (or two!) and some amazing cookies, and of course I spent a small fortune on the fab new range.

As if all this was not enough, Poppy and I then set off with Bonnie and Miss M from MamasVIB to The Baby Show at Kensington Olympia. If you’ve ever been to one of these events, you’ll know how crazy they are. There’s so much to see and take in but if you’re pregnant it really is a total mecca! I definitely found some great new brands and products that I want to get over the next few months (before the arrival of our baby in March). More on these items to come…

So back to today and I think it’s no surprise that I’m not feeling too great. Thankfully, the weather’s not good so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on a beautiful autumnal walk in the park, and can happily spend the day surfing the internet and catching up on some blog reading.

While I was surfing I came across this great competition to design a pair of wellies for Joules.

They have a cute little site that allows you to design your own wellies on your computer and then enter your ‘design’ for a chance to win a fabulous luxury break worth £5,000.

It’s such a fun task, I played around with a few designs before coming up with my final version. The winning welly design will go on sale at joules.com and all the proceeds from the sale of the limited edition ‘winning welly’ will be donated to their charity partners, which is such a lovely touch.

So there you go, that’s the kind of day I’m having - as a result of a very busy few days. What have you been up to today and do you think you might give this Joules competition a go?

Oh my gosh, you have been busy. No wonder you needed a duvet day on Saturday. I can’t believe that you are 20 weeks already. That has gone quickly. March will be here before you know it. You need to take it easy though, lovely. I would be exhausted after all those activities and I’m not pregnant. Hugs Mrs H xxxx

Blimey, Heledd! I feel out of breath just reading that and I’m not the one who’s pregnant. I adore the Gap range. I loved Charlie Brown. I’m going to pop over to the site and check it out for the boys. Thank you for the mention, too. So sweet of you xx

I think you deserve a rest after all those lovely events you have been too. I bet Chessington was wonderful at Halloween. We are too far to visit, but we have been to Alton Towers Scarefest many times which has always been fantastic. Hope you are feeling better today x
