School Run Mum – My Five Minute Make-up

My five minute school run mum makeup routine

Okay, first of all let me just say I DO (of course) sometimes find myself running out of the house in the morning sans make-up. There was once a time when I wouldn’t have dreamt of doing such a thing. The thought of walking out without make-up would have been as unthinkable as going out without shoes, or without brushing my teeth. No way! However when I can, I do like to apply a little make-up in the morning – so not to scare the  children on the playground.

As you can imagine, I have very little time to myself in the mornings. Lili usually needs me to do her hair, Poppy’s demanding to wear something massively unsuitable and Iris needs her morning feed. This all means that even on the best days, I only have around five minutes to do my make-up – if that.

With only five minutes to spare, this is what I focus on, and these are my current ‘go to’ products…

Step 1 – Tinted Moisturiser

For a natural looking, fresh, dewy finish I love the Clarins Hydrating Tinted Moisturiser in 02 (beige)

Step 2 – A quick flick of black Eye-Liner on the upper lid

For a quick, yet effective result I always rely on a little black eye liner. I’m currently using Maybelline Colour Show pencil.

Step 3 – A coating of black Mascara

I have shot, barely there lashes, so some mascara is a must. My current favourite has to be the iT Cosmetics Mascara. It gives amazing results and the lashes I wish I had naturally.

Step 4 – A light brush of Bronzer

For a healthy glow I like to use a little bronzer and my all time favourite has to be Hoola by Benefit – it’s a classic for a good reason!

Step 5 – Lip Balm

There’s no need to go over the top so a moisturising lip balm is more than enough. I’m currently using Clarins Instant Smooth Lip Perfector in 03 (nude).

I agree, I don’t want to scare my kids school friends either. A bit of mascara and some tinted moisturiser will sort that out. I do love that bronzer too. It’s one of my faves x
