Our living room has been crying out for a splash of colour for a while now. When we first moved in (five years ago) we painted the room grey and filled the room with grey furniture… as a result it lacked character and looked like a scene from an old black and white film. I knew it needed something but how and what colour?

I played around with different cushions and throws but they didn’t really work. Then, a few months ago I went to a preview event of the new DFS Capsule Collection (here’s a post I did following the event) and spotted this mustard chair. I was drawn to it immediately, I loved the style, the colour and the fabric, and above all it was incredibly comfortable.

The DFS Capsule Collection is a range contemporary sofas, armchairs, and foot-stools that are stylish and perfectly sized for smaller spaces. The whole collection is available in 55 different fabrics and 4 different feet options – in chrome, copper, light and dark wood.

I was so taken by the chair I saw at the preview event that I placed an order for two velvet, mustard armchairs and a matching footstool for our ‘grey’ living room. I chose the Wing Chairs (£379 each) with copper legs, and a matching Hexagon Footstool (£159).

I’m so pleased with the result, they fit perfectly and have given the room a new look and feel. As I’ve already mentioned, the chairs are incredibly comfortable and are my new favourite spot in the house.

5 Reasons why I’m so impressed by new the Capsule Collection by DFS

  1. Each sofa, armchair and footstool comes with a wide variety of fabric options, so you’re able to create a piece of furniture that’s personal to your own style and taste.
  2. The collection offers fantastic value for money on furniture that’s hand-made here in the UK.
  3. Every season the Capsule Collection brings out new limited edition textile designs from emerging British talent. I just love that they’re working with young designers in this way!
  4. Each piece comes with a 15 year guarantee.
  5. The whole collection is style-led, accessible and perfect for small spaces.

Welcome back to My Captured Moment, a weekly link-up where I share my favourite ‘Captured Moments’ and invite you to do the same.

For this week’s My Captured Moment, I’m sharing some pictures from a fun day out I had with my girls over the recent half-term. It was the day after Lili’s 6th birthday and we’d been invited to the launch of the latest Skylanders game – Skylanders Imaginators (which will be out later this year).

We weren’t too familiar with the Skylands franchise but it sounded like a fun party and a nice treat for the girls at the end of half-term. It really was a great event, which included a massive sweets buffet, ice cream made of dry ice, a digital illustrator, a photo booth and of course the chance to play the latest games – which the older two loved!

This very cool event was aptly held at the equally cool Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, East London. I don’t find myself in this part of town too often so I used the opportunity to take some pictures of the famous street art and take my family to Pizza East for a delicious lunch.

Blogging has given me so many great opportunities but I aways favour the events that I know my girls will enjoy and hopefully remember for years to come. I know I’ll remember and cherish this day for a long time.

Welcome back to My Captured Moment, a weekly link-up where I share my favourite ‘Captured Moments’ and invite you to do the same.

This week’s My Captured Moment is dedicated to my amazing ‘mam’. She’s always there for me and my girls and seeing her relationship with my daughters is one of my favourite things in the world. Although, she does really spoil them with sweets and cakes which drives me a little crazy – but as she says, that’s what grandparents are supposed to do.

Last week both my parents came over from Wales to help us celebrate Lili’s birthday and while they were with us I took these shots of them with little baby Iris, their newest grandchild.

It was after breakfast and Iris had just been fed, so everyone was happy and in good spirits. I love the way they’ve come out…

Welcome back to My Captured Moment, a weekly link-up where I share my favourite ‘Captured Moments’ and invite you to do the same.

This week’s My Captured Moment is dedicated to my beautiful daughter Lili who turns six today. I took theses shots at the weekend when we were staying at Butlin’s in Minehead.

Lili is my biggest girl and is truly as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She has such a big heart and is always full of life and laughter. I literally could not be more proud of the young lady she’s becoming and hope she stays as confident, strong and caring as she is right now.

Happy Birthday my darling girl, I hope all your wishes and dreams come true. Six years ago today you made me a mum, filling me with more love and joy than I ever thought possible.

Welcome back to My Captured Moment, a weekly link-up where I share my favourite ‘Captured Moments’ and invite you to do the same.

This week my captured moment is a short series of shots I took last week at our local park. The girls look like they’re in the middle of a beautiful meadow, not a popular village park, and I love the way the sun’s shining down through the trees. This time of year is truly stunning.

As you can tell the girls didn’t know I was snapping away, which makes these pictures even more special because they gives a real glimpse into their relationship and closeness. They play so happily together and this really comes through here…
