Charlotte Tilbury has easily been one of the most exciting and successful beauty brand launches of recent years. I LOVE her makeup but what about her skincare?
Well, I was recently sent The Gift of Goddess Skin Travel Kit (£39) to try, containing these three award winning products:
The brand claim: Packed with Bio-Nymph Peptide, Mediterranean Clay and Sweet Almond Oil, the Goddess Skin Clay Mask will leave skin smoother, plumper and glowing with health.
What I thought: This is a big claim and to be fair it does exactly what it says on the tube. My skin did indeed feel smoother, plumper and my pores were reduced. As clay masks go, this is one of the BEST I’ve ever tried. Now there’s a statement for you! Seriously though, this clay mask moisturises and doesn’t leave your skin dry or tight, however as I’ve already mentioned my pores were reduced and my skin felts soft and healthy.
The brand claim: The famous, Charlotte Tilbury miracle-working Magic Cream contains a secret mix of anti-ageing ingredients to instantly turn around dull, ageing skin.
What I thought: This is a VERY rich and luxurious cream that literally leaves your skin glowing. If I was going out for an important night out and wanted to look radiant I would definitely use it (as a one off) but it’s way too rich for my normal/ combination skin to use on a regular basis. I’d say this is perfect for women with normal/ dry skin, not prone to any oiliness or breakouts.
The brand claim: The award-wining Wonderglow, uses breakthrough technology to steal UV light from its surroundings and radiate it as skin luminosity, transforming sleep-deprived skin in seconds.
What I thought: This is another big claim that in all honesty I can’t dispute! As skin primers go, I can’t think of another that gives such a beautiful luminosity to my dull (often sleep-deprived) skin. If you’re after a new primer I can whole-heartedly recommend this one. I’ll be buying the full sized version very soon because I just love the fresh, dewy finish it gave my lacklustre looking skin.
As well as the limited edition The Gift of Goddess Skin Travel Kit, I was also sent a full size tube of the Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow (£38.50), which is another much praised and loved makeup primer.
The brand claim: Brightening Youth Glow is a colour-correcting, moisturising primer that evens your skin tone and blurs away blemishes. With anti-ageing and anti-redness ingredients this brightening skin potion is the perfect base for your makeup.
What I thought: Having already fallen in love with the Wonderglow primer, this second primer had a lot (and I mean a lot) to live up to. And in many ways it did, my skin looked younger as my lines were definitely reduced but for me this didn’t have the wow factor of the Wonderglow. This could be because my skin is still fairly line-free and I preferred the fresh dewy finish of the Wonderglow. However, this would be a brilliant primer for slightly older skin or skin that needs more of a blurring, soft-focus effect.
Over all I’d say that the quality of the Charlotte Tilbury skincare range is up there with the best beauty brands on the market, and lives up to all the social media and press hype. So go on, splash out on some key items or drop some hints in the run up to Mother’s Day, you won’t regret it!
